Sherwood State School

P & C Association PDF Print E-mail
All are welcome to come to P&C meetings. These meetings are fairly informal so that concerns of parents and staff may be addressed, as well as the normal business of such an organization. The functioning of the P&C and the sub-committees is dependent largely on parent volunteer participation.

The objective of the Sherwood State School - Parents & Citizens Association (P&C) is to promote the interests, and to facilitate the development and further improvement of Sherwood State School and to provide or assist in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the school.

Go to the P & C Meetings page of this website to view the dates of the meetings.

SUB-COMMITTEES

All subcommittees consist of a President, Secretary, Treasurer and general members.

All sub-committees hold an AGM in each P&C financial year.
Paid convenors as well as volunteers run both the uniform & tuckshop.

Outside School Hours Care is run by a qualified director & the appropriate number of qualified staff.

PROJECTS

* Curriculum Support;
* Books & ICT equipment.
* School Buildings
* Ongoing improvement of school classrooms.
* School Grounds (A plan for improvement of school grounds & surrounds hanging in the school hall.)

These projects are financed through P & C fundraising, an active Building Fund, and from sub-committee donations.

ROAD SAFETY COMMITTEE

Jayne Ballard

Road safety at Sherwood State School—Parents we need your help

For those who pick up and deliver their children at the school grounds, I am sure you will appreciate how busy and often dangerous the traffic situation can be, especially in the afternoon.

A brochure has been prepared describing the parking and pedestrian conditions near the school and recommending ways to help make walking, driving and parking as safe as possible. Of particular importance are keeping the 2 minute pick up/drop off zones free of parked cars, avoiding double parking and also avoiding stopping in the no standing areas near the Hall Street crossing.

The brochure also has diagrams showing recommended traffic movements around the school and dangerous traffic movements to avoid. In particular, anti-clockwise around the school is recommended. This is to avoid right-turns, principally at the Oxley Road/Hall Street intersection, and reduce the two-way congestion in Hall Street.

The brochure may be viewed by clicking on the link below. Please read it carefully. Our children's safety is of utmost importance.
