BACK TO SCHOOL REMINDERS FOR FAMILIES
We hope you had a restful break with your family, and your children are ready and rearing to go for another great year at Sherwood State School.
With only a few days until we officially kick off, we thought it good timing to send some important reminders:
School returns for all year levels Wednesday 27 January at 8.45am.
With the ever-changing nature of COVID-19 advice, please check your emails and the Sherwood State School Facebook page for any new information regarding mask requirements next week (if any). But at this stage, we look forward to welcoming parents on campus to drop-off their children on the first day.
We will be hosting a Tissues, Tea, and Tim Tams morning tea for ALL parents in the New Hall on the first morning. Please keep an eye out for the flyer.
If you have opted IN for the Essentials for Learning and the Student Resource Scheme, you will still need to arrange the following extra items for the first day of school:
Prep: Library bag, lunch box/water bottle, RED broad brimmed hat, a spare uniform (preferable), and school bag.
Year 1: Library bag, chair bag, BLUE broad brimmed hat, lunch box/water bottle, and school bag.
Year 2 – 3: Library bag, chair bag, BLUE broad brimmed hat, lunch box/water bottle, and school bag. For IPAD CLASSES ONLY: 7/8th Generation iPad in a heavy duty protective case, over-ear headphones, carry bag, and all designated apps downloaded (as per teacher list).

A reminder, if you haven't yet paid the Student Resource Scheme, the final due date is Friday 29 January, excluding families who have already contacted the office about a payment plan. If payment is not received by this date, you will be responsible for supplying the subscriptions and resources outlined. Please contact the office for this list.
If you are using the pick-up zone on McCulla Street to collect your child/children from next week, a reminder to please clearly display your family vehicle tag on your front passenger visor. If you are a new family and would like to order one, you can do so by emailing your child's surname and class details to the office at firstname.lastname@example.org The tags will be produced over the coming days and sent to your child's class.
In order for the pick-up zone to run smoothly and safely for all users, we urge parents to consider the following:
- Delay your pick up arrival to 3:10pm or later – as this gives your child time to get to the pick-up zone and avoids you needing to 'do a lap'.
- Do not get out of your car. Students are supervised by staff so they get SAFELY to your vehicle as you arrive – support your children to buckle themselves in.
- Track down to the far end of the pick-up zone for your child to get into the car.
If your child has a listed medical condition requiring medication, this needs to be delivered promptly to the office on the first day of school, complete with a chemist's label. The school's medical checklist can be downloaded HERE.
The QKR! App will need to be downloaded (for new families) or updated (for existing families) to reflect new class details for each student. This is necessary for successful payment of activities and excursions during the year.
The uniform shop is open all week, with times listed below. Please note, the shop is now CASHLESS, with payment of second-hand uniforms now occurring via the QKR! app. Masks are also required to be worn during your visit.
- Monday (18 Jan): 9am - 3pm
- Tuesday (19 Jan): 9am - 2pm
- Wednesday (20 Jan): 9am - 1pm
- Thursday (21 Jan): 2pm - 6pm
- Friday (22 Jan): 9am - 12pm
If your child is unwell, we ask you to please keep them home, and notify us via the following methods:
Phone: (07) 3716 2160
The Sherwood tuckshop will reopen in Week 3 of term (Wednesday 10 February), and operates each week from Wednesday-Friday. To purchase lunch, parents will need to create a School24 account. Returning families will need to update their child’s profile to reflect their current school year and class.
Prior to the return of school banking for 2021, families are asked to update their child’s class in their school banking wallet. School banking will recommence Week 2 of term on Thursday (and every week thereafter).
