Wishing all of our new and returning families a very happy new year, and a big welcome (or welcome back) to Sherwood State School.
The Sherwood State School P&C provides support to students' learning and well-being. The P&C and its volunteers and staff help to manage and run the school's OSHC (Outside School Hours Care), swimming club (Sherwood Sharks), the Tuckshop, and the Uniform Shop. In addition to these, P&C subcommittees manage the school's annual Fete and support the school's skipping team (Sherwood Arrows) and the Music and Arts programmes.
Sherwood State School is an excellent place for our children due to our wonderful teaching staff and to our strong parent involvement and community participation. Parents should always feel welcome to be active within our school community. There are lots of opportunities for volunteering for the P&C and the subcommittees and we rely on volunteers to make things happen.
Dan Waterford has resigned from his position as Acting Coordinator at OSHC as he is returning to full-time study this year. Dan's last day at the service was January 29. We wish Dan all the best in his future endeavours and extend our thanks for his excellent work with the staff and children at OSHC over his time with us.
We are excited to welcome a new Director at OSHC – Lisa Scollo. Lisa comes to OSHC with a background in business and customer service and is looking forward to working with Sherwood students and their families in the role.
Cathie Perkins has resigned as Tuckshop Convenor, and we thank her for her amazing work at running the Tuckshop (and coordinating all the wonderful volunteers) over the last 11 years. Sherwood SS was lucky to have such a dedicated convenor, and we wish Cathie the best of luck in the future.
Alisha Kite, who has previously worked in the Tuckshop, has stepped up to the role of convenor. We wish her all the best in the new role!
The first P&C meeting of the year will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 22 February in the Administration block. We're looking forward to seeing familiar faces, along with some new families as well.
For new families - P&C meetings are held at 7.30pm on the last Monday of each month during term time. There are no meetings during school holidays. Meetings are held in the Administration block.
For any queries about volunteering, or if you would like to be added to the P&C's mailing list for meeting invitations, please email the P&C on firstname.lastname@example.org.
