We warmly welcome you to Prep at Sherwood in 2024-2025. We invite you to begin your familiarisation with our Prep program by viewing this short video. You may also like to share it with your little one!
KEY DATES
Transition Days
Term 3 – Monday 9 September 2024 9am – 10am OR Friday 13 September 2024 9am – 10am
All in catchment, enrolled 2025 Prep students are invited to attend one transition day. The transition day gives children the opportunity to become familiar with our prep learning spaces. Parents will remain with their children in the Prep room. Due to limited space, we kindly ask for one parent/guardian to attend, and that no siblings attend.
- Bookings will open 8am, Monday 19 August 2024. Each day will have approximately 25 children in two different classrooms. Children will only attend one transition day.

- Please tick the box for Prep and add fill in all of the details requested.
- Please print or take note of your Transition Day. Changes can be made on SOBS until 24hrs prior to the event, subject to availability.
- To be included in these transition days, enrolment forms must be in to the office by Monday 19 August 2024.
- Parents TEAMS information session – Wednesday 11 September 7pm. All enrolled families will be emailed the link prior to the session.
Local Early Childhood Education Centre Visits
Term 4 – Tuesday 1 October and Thursday 3 October 2024
As a school, we have been in contact with a number of Early Childhood Centres to organise ways in which the centres and the school can connect and assist in making the transition process for families as supportive as possible. In collaboration with the centres, we are looking to arrange opportunities for centres to visit the school with the children.
Please ensure your consent form enclosed in the Prep enrolment documents has been signed.
Prep Meet and Greet
Term 4
All 2025 Prep enrolments will have an opportunity to meet with a School Leadership Team Member and a current Prep Teacher. At this Meet and Greet, families have a chance to share information with the school staff. This is also an opportunity for your child to have an informal conversation with a current prep teacher. This time together allows us an opportunity to get to know each individual child and their family.
Meet and Greet sessions will be held on Friday 11 October 2024 at Sherwood State School.
Orientation Day
Term 4
Friday 29 November 9am – 10am
All 2025 Prep children, as well as their parent and guardian, are invited to attend the Orientation Day. Students will be placed into class groups and will spend time with their 2025 class teacher and teacher aide in their future classroom. Parents are invited to participate in the classroom orientation activities and meet their child's 2025 Prep teacher and teacher aide.
Pre-Prep Possums
Term 4
In-catchment families can enrol in our Prep-readiness playgroup, the "Pre-Prep Possums".
The program includes five fortnightly sessions and a special take-home pack at a cost of $70.
Possum visits will be fortnightly on either a Monday from 9am – 10am or 10am – 11am or Thursday from 9am – 10am.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you and your child to embark on your Prep transition. Payment secures your child's position in this program.
Bookings and payment can be made via QKR from the 8 July from 10 am. Places are limited.
Please note that parents/guardians will stay with their Prep student during the session at school. We kindly ask that only one parent/guardian attends, and that no siblings attend. We will also be offering parent information sessions during term 4.
More information will be sent out to all Prep families closer to Term 4.
Enrolling in OSHC
Enrolments open for 2025 Prep families 21st of October 2024. If you have previously contacted the team at OSHC, your email address would have been added to the Expression of Interest list and as a result you will receive an Enrolment Package at this time.
If you are unsure whether you are on the email list, please contact OSHC at manager@sherwoodoshc.com.au to verify this.
Alternatively, digital versions of the Enrolment package will be made available on the website.
