Leadership Team
Lisa Masek, A/Principal
Lisa is an experienced educator who has worked in a range of educational systems, settings and states. She began her teaching career in a small rural school in country Vitoria before moving to the independent system prior to moving north and joining Education Queensland. Her years as a classroom teacher, has served as a great foundation to a range of leaderships roles before gaining a substantive Deputy Principal role. Lisa has acted as Principal in other schools and was thrilled to join Sherwood SS at the beginning of Term 3, 2023 to support Mrs Hawkswell, who is on secondment.
First and foremost, Lisa is an instructional leader, placing teaching and learning at the core of strategic decision making to build teaching capability, support student outcomes, drive improvement and ensure equity so that all students realise their potential. She maintains that relationships and connection are key to creating a genuine sense of belonging where all people can grow, learn and thrive.
Stacey Thomasen, Deputy Principal (P - 2)
Stacey has always been passionate about inclusive education, and graduated with a Major in Inclusive Education from university. She started her teaching career at Stretton State College, before transferring to Springfield Central State School in 2011. She was made a permanent Head of Curriculum in 2013, where she held various acting Deputy Principal roles. Stacey moved to Sherwood in 2019 and was appointed permanent Deputy Principal in 2020. She is particularly interested in Systematic Curriculum Delivery (assessment, reporting, pedagogy and curriculum), Student Services (inclusive education) and the Early Years. She says there’s so much to love about Sherwood SS, including the generosity of families and sense of community spirit, and being surrounded by kind students always striving to Aim Higher. She is also impressed by the high quality of learning evident in each classroom, which is reinforced at home by parents and carers.
Janice Lenarduzzi | Deputy Principal (3 - 6)
Janice comes to you with 30 years' experience as an educator. She spent 15 years teaching then moving into leadership positions both in schools and in Regional Office. She comes from West End SS and previously MacGregor SS. She is looking forward to joining the leadership team and believe every student deserves a quality education and that only happens when the school and family work together for the best interests of our children. She feels privileged to be given this opportunity and looking forward to immersing myself completely in Sherwood State School. She looks forward to meeting all of you and seeing every child reach their potential at Sherwood SS.
Cara Middleton | HOD (curriculum)
Cara has always been passionate about the children and creating a quality and engaging curriculum. She began her career in 2008 teaching in Ipswich schools for 10 years, before transferring to Jamboree Heights in 2018. Cara moved to Sherwood in 2022 and was appointed Head of Department (Curriculum) and has enjoyed the experiences and community spirit. She is committed to ensuring each educator is dedicated, motivated and goal-driven to commit to the social, emotional and academic growth and development of every learner. Cara loves being part of the Sherwood Community, being surrounded by the kindness of staff, students and families.
