Homework at Sherwood aims to:
Consolidate learning
Establish good study habits
Build patterns of behaviour for lifelong learning beyond the classroom
Involve family members in learning
We believe homework should be:
Related to class work
Purposeful and relevant
Varied and differentiated
Designed to develop independence
We all have a role to play
Teachers will:
Provide purposeful and achievable home tasks based on what has been the focus on the classroom;
Clearly communicate expectations by providing examples and guiding parents in the correct procedure;
Clearly advising both students and families when homework is due;
Ensure homework is marked in a timely manner.
Parents will:
Be available to assist your child where necessary, and communicate any concerns to the classroom teacher;
Keep in mind homework is not designed to be a stressful task at home;
Advise the teacher by the due date if homework cannot be completed;
Support the establishment of a homework routine and ensure your child has enough opportunity to complete homework in time.
Students will:
Be an enthusiastic learner and undertake homework as part of their education;
Take ownership of their homework, which will be set at their level of achievement;
Be responsible for having homework returned to school by the due date;
Access digital learning programs where available, and appropriate, as outlined in the Homework Policy.
