Change in school hours

Good afternoon families,

I have some very important information to communicate with you regarding a permanent change to our school hours, effective from next week.

From Monday 6 March, the bell to signal the start of the school day will revert to 8.55am (10 minutes later than the current arrangement).

This means our official school hours will be 8:55am – 3:00pm.

This will be a permanent change moving forward, to assist us to meet a requirement as specified in the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement between the Queensland Teacher's Union and the Department of Education. Our teachers are a highly valued part of our school community, and it is important to us that we are supporting their working entitlements. As such, the new school times reflect this.

As you will be aware, our ‘tricky fingers’ exercises, which are a valued Signature Practice, are usually conducted during these first few minutes of the school day. Be assured these activities will continue to be timetabled in our Early Years classrooms.

Please note, all students who arrive at school prior to 8.30am will need to sit under A-Block, when the bell will signal the start of supervised play time.

Prep students will no longer require an adult to stay and sign them in and out from Monday 6 March, meaning they are welcome to join us in the Quadrangle before school and will be supervised by our Leadership Team.

We ask families not to drop students to school prior to 8.20am, and if they need to do so, please make a booking with OSHC.

We understand this change would ideally be made at the beginning of the school year, but it is necessary for us to implement it as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for being so understanding and supportive of our school and staff. If you have any questions at all, please email me directly at ahawk19@eq.edu.au

Thank you,

Amanda Hawkswell

Principal
