Hello Parents,
I wanted to make contact and wish families a safe and enjoyable holiday break. Many of you will know COVID finally got me, and I have been in isolation since last Friday night. Unfortunately this meant I missed several great things in our calendar - such as the Rides Day, and the Senior Athletics Days – I am told though that both have been great successes. Thanks to everyone who contributed to these events to ensure they were well run and enjoyable. Thank you also to our year 5 team + Mr Hegarty and Mr Ryan for a fabulous year 5 camp.
Next term is sure to be a busy one – so please encourage a little down time for your children, so they can recharge those batteries.
Finally - some staffing updates:
I was informed yesterday that Mrs Hoyer has applied for, and been successful in obtaining, a teaching position at a private boys school. This new position for Mrs Hoyer will begin from the start of Term 3. So it is with some sadness I need to inform you that today, Friday 24th June, will be her final day on class, at Sherwood State School and with the department. Mrs Hoyer has had a long association with Sherwood and she has been a valued member of our team and I would like to wish her all of the best as she takes up her new position and continues her journey in education.
Mrs Hoyer will be replaced by – Mr Tom Partrige, a graduate teacher from Griffith Uni.
Mr Andrew Brown – has also recently taken a teaching position at an International School in Dubai. Mr Brown has been a valued member of the Sherwood Team for many years. This will be a great opportunity for Mr Brown and his family, but we are sure he will be greatly missed by his students and their families, and of course his colleagues. Mr Brown will work with us up to and including Friday 12th August.
We have not yet secured a replacement for Mr Brown
Mrs Lauren Simic will begin her maternity leave at the start of week 8, term 3 – we have not yet secured a replacement for Mrs Simic
Next term we will also welcome another member for the office (working part time) at the front desk will be Jodie Sissons
We also have a new part-time TA starting - Kate Toohey
I am sure all of these staff will be made very welcome here at Sherwood.
