Dear families,

Thank you to everyone who completed the Qkr! survey regarding student attendance during the non-learning weeks, from 24 January - 4 February.

Please find below some important information regarding arrangements during this fortnight for those students who will be attending.

Arrival and departure

Please arrive at 8.45am and make your way to the new hall, as we will have no before-school supervision. If you need to drop your child off prior to this time, please make a booking with OSHC.

Students who are new to the school (particularly Prep) should be collected from the New Hall at 3pm, with the pick-up zone operating with staff supervision for other students.

If you are a new family and would like to use the pick-up zone now or in the future, please email admin@sherwoodss.eq.edu.au to request a vehicle name tag. Once completed, this can be collected directly from the school office.

School bells and lunch breaks

There will be no bells during the school day across the 9 days of ‘non-learning’, so please do not rely on this to know school is starting/finishing. Lunch breaks and session times will be fluid each day.

A reminder that tuckshop will not be operating during the next fortnight, and will reopen on the first official day of school, Monday 7 February. Please ensure you send sufficient food for your student/s to cover morning tea and lunch during this fortnight.

Free dress

As these are non-learning days, the Sherwood uniform is not required. Students are invited to wear free dress on the days they attend, however will need to bring a broad-brimmed hat and wear closed-in shoes.

Medication

If your child has a listed medical condition requiring medication, this needs to be delivered promptly to the office from Monday 24 January (and prior to Monday 7 February), complete with a doctor’s label. The school's medical checklist can be downloaded here

Office hours

From now until Monday 7 February, the school office will be staffed from 9am - 3pm. If you are dropping off medication or need to get in touch with our team for another reason, please do so between these hours.

School activity packs (for students NOT attending)

Activity packs for students not attending school during this non-learning period will be made available for families who want them.  They will be left outside the deck of the admin building from Tuesday 25 January. Please ensure you contact Prue Stansfield, and indicate the year level the pack/packs you want to pick-up PRIOR to attending. This will ensure sufficient resources are available for your collection. Email Prue via pnoll1@eq.edu.au

Uniform shop reminder

The Uniform Shop have delayed their back to school opening hours and will start on Monday 24 January. They will still operate the hours as advertised, except Wednesday, which is a public holiday:

Monday 24/1  8am - 1pm

Tuesday 25/1  2pm - 5:30pm

Wednesday  Closed

Thursday 27/1  9am - 1pm

Friday 28/1  9am - 12pm

Thank you again for adapting so well to these necessary changes to the school year, particularly as we know it has meant a juggle of family and work rosters, and relying on outside help.

We will be issuing further correspondence containing reminders for the official start to school closer to the time.

Kind regards,

Amanda Hawkswell

Principal
